National Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day

I’ve been looking for opportunities to:

Shock & Awe

those around me.  I was doing some research and discovered that the first Saturday in LUVuary is:

National Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day

In my home, I have high expectations for my children yet I give mighty rewards. I want to bless my children and I want to take them on adventures they have never been on!!! I desire us to experience God and all he created in deep meaningful ways.

For months, I have been taking my children places and not telling them where we are going – but asking them:

  • Do you trust me?
  • Are you ready for adventure?

Sometimes the response I get back is No. Which hurts my feelings a little (because of our relationship & track record), but I still move forward while seeking to understand. Sometimes the response I get back is Yes – which excites me because it means they are understanding my love for them.

After deciding to expose my family to “National Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day” – I kept quiet. I knew I was taking them some days before, but did not want the focus of our conversations to be all about what was to come and when it was to come.

This Saturday morning (February 5th) my son walks in and says “Mom, Can I cook breakfast?”. I smile and reply “No”. My son stomps out pouting. I wanted right then to tell him the real reason why I said No, but I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. I controlled myself and told him “Keep on your jammies, brush your teeth, and put on your robe”. He became excited and we all got ready to head out in our jammies. I went and started the car so it would be warm for our journey. As it warmed up there was both excitement and impatience. My family asked “Where are we going?”. To which I replied:

Out, Are You Ready for Adventure?

One child said – No, I want to know where we going! Bahahaha! Another one said “ I’m Ready For Adventure”. He was so ready he got in the car without his winter coat (had to go get it)!

I pulled out of the driveway and we hit the road playing the Encanto Soundtrack!

I took them to a place we have never been before.

Buffalo Grove Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor

The restaurant was not packed and we had the perfectly sized booth for our family.

We slid into our seats and my family expected to have Saturday morning breakfast. When I asked the waitress, Blanca, if they were serving ice cream (which I knew they were)….my sons faces:

Lit Up

It is then that I told them we were celebrating National Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day with

Glory, The Birthday Breakfast Bear!

Thank you Lord for blessing me with a daughter to nurture with love.
Caleb, Caught him off guard! 🙂

More!?!
Packing Up For The Next Great Adventure!

Thank you to the Buffalo Grove Restaurant staff for great service. We enjoyed the yummy treats and breakfast. Your restaurant gave comfy home vibes.

Friends – I pray that we embrace:

The Dash

That short time between the day we are born and when we pass on. Jesus died for us to know the depth of God’s love while dashing through Earth.

“…and I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is love of Christ, and to know this love tht surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”.

Ephesians 3: 18-19

If you didn’t celebrate “the official” National Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day – no big deal. You can establish your own. If you do – please let me know how it was!!!
